DAY 5
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hola!
So day 5 started with us rising at 11:30am again!!!!! It is getting beyond a joke; we just can not wake up….I wonder if setting an alarm would help?!?
All songs have been written and all drums have been recorded now, so we decided to
celebrate by going to the local superstore to get ingredients for a roast dinner. We were all set to make the 15 minute journey, when Ryan came down the stairs in a zebra print waistcoat, leather flares and Brian Harvey (from East-17’s) Beanie hat….that was it, completely topless apart from the very fetching waistcoat.
Simon insisted that we make the journey in the infamous Renault Espace, now I would have had no qualms with this apart for the fact it had no bloody seats in the back!!! Me and Dickon drew the short straws and sat in the back. The journey was all down windy country lanes, therefore Si thought it would be a good idea to tear arse down these roads and brake as suddenly as possible all the fucking time!!!!
This lead to me and Dickon doing somersaults in the back and getting thrown all over the bastarding place…I don’t know how I did not break my face. It’s all on video, so hopefully it will make the end cut.
So we got to the superstore in one piece and proceeded to film Ryan getting weird looks whilst he chatted to locals about finding some meat and two veg, doing press ups in the dairy aisle and doing some weight lifting with baguettes…..it was surreal!!
I think Ryan was releasing some tension due to the fact he is yet to shoot anything with the air rifle. Pretty much every time I look out a window, Ryan is creeping past the hedge row, gun in hand, and a crazed look on his face. I just hope his lack of success won’t send him over the edge and I wake up tomorrow morning with my hands tied behind my back with Ryan looking over me in leather flares, war paint and rifle in his hands pointed at the apple placed on my head!!!!
Later that evening after we had dinner, Simon tried to make a start on guitars, but had a slight spaz trying to sort out tone and mic placement, so we decided to call it a night at 2am. So that we could get up earlier…will we, won’t we or will I just wake up with a rifle pointed at my head.
Find out same goo time, same goo channel!!!

DAY 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello
Another day, another bass & drum track finished. We rose at midday, which was about 3 hours later than we had planned!!!
Dickon, being the star he is, was cooking sausages and bacon and so we started the day as we meant to go on…full of meat!!! (There are no sexual connotations there). My friend asked me if we had been creating magic whilst we are here in the middle of nowhere, and I can emphatically say that we have been like Paul Daniels on crack!!! It has been an awesome experience and so much better than going into a sterile studio and just having another friend around really relieves any stress or boredom, I would recommend this to anyone looking to record….its off the hook!!!
The on, off relationship of Otto and Molly keeps things interesting, but not for Otto! I think his interest is on the wane; the lack of balls seems somewhat of a hindrance and has given up the old sexual intercourse malarkey. Molly is still trying to get some action off him at any given point….she is a right slag! So I think the couple of the year are no more, messages of condolence can be posted on the below message board.
By the time we had sorted ourselves out and recorded drums, watched the football, had an arm punching competition and eaten, we finished recording the bass at about 2:30am. Once that was done me, Simon and Dickon watched a documentary called Zeitgeist: The Movie. This documentary dissects the origins of the Christian religion and gives an interesting view on how a few American banks (and thus a few very powerful people) have seized world power at the beginning of the 20th century. It also related these topics to the big wars that have been fought in the 20th century and are still being fought today!
It’s a bit of a head fuck but worth a watch. Here is the link:

So we got to bed at stupid o’clock and yet again woke up at later than planned. So its back to recording for me and back to work, studying or doing something better with your lives for you.

DAY 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi there,
The weather up here is mental….literally mental!!! One minute it’s raining and blowing a gale and feels like we’re going to end up in Oz at any moment (to be honest I’d probably fit in with those munchkin characters) and the next minute the sun is shining and it feels we’re in the other Oz on the other side of the world. Well that’s the awkward weather chat out of the way!
Day 3 ended with two bass tracks completed plus two new songs getting written.
For the writing of the songs we got well atmospheric, using candles for moody lighting and incense for moody smelling. Our lack of rock ‘n’ rollness got the better of us when the incense became too overpowering and we had to put it out….god help us if we ever get near an illegal drug!!!!
Any who, we’re pretty excited about the new songs and personally I can’t wait to play them live. Dickon pulled a sax out of no where and joined in with the jam and I think he’ll be making an appearance on the new e.p. its going to sound phat (is that what the kids say nowadays when something is good?!?)
Well, I’ve been holding out on you for too long and know this is why you came here.
You want to know about the hot new couple who are now being known as Motley, yes Molly and Otto. They literally would not stop all freaking day, but I think Ryan was sort of matchmaking a bit as well, he was taking a hands on approach…he was definitely to close for comfort!! But something happened around 9pm because Otto looked pretty dejected lying on the kitchen floor and Molly was no where to be seen. He could’ve been tired out from the day’s exertions but I think its something else, we’ll have to wait and see.
Hope you all enjoyed Pancake Day, we got a bit over excited and used about 20 eggs to make our batter and now I think that is all we’re going to be eating (and drinking) for the rest of our stay.
Right I’m off to have a glass of pancake batter!!!
Good chat, see you out there!

DAY 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Word to your respective mothers.
Well it is now 11pm on day two of the recording and we have three drum tracks down and sounding….well….like drums, and ruddy good drums at that.
The day started with myself having cheerios for breakfast (other good cereals are available….hence why we will be going down the shops tomorrow to get some) then something alarming happened.
I will try my utmost to set the scene: after finishing my cereal in the front room I took my bowl to the kitchen to wash up, still bleary eyed with ginger curls flattened on one side of my bonce, I then see a figure go past the window. ‘What the shitting hell was that?’ was at the foremost of my sleep deprived brain, the figure went past once more. I peeked round the corner of the window to see Ryan with an air rifle, a twitchy eye and manic smile. He had spotted some crows on the barn and he was going to have them. I mean, come on!!! I know nestle make cheerios and they are seen as c u next Tuesdays but having crow for breakfast is ridiculous!!!
Anyway, the other big news of the day…well…it’s what we’ve all been waiting for…it’s the romance of the year….will they, won’t they, well they did Otto and Molly futtin got jiggy…apparently OK and Hello magazine are battling it out for wedding and honeymoon pics. The only problem is that it has been really awkward between them since, so we’ll just have to see what happens tomorrow, I’ll obviously keep you posted.
Dickon (whose house this is) has had to go back to London to do his DJ night today, so we are in charge of the household, which is a pretty daunting prospect and scary at that….it can get quite creepy out in the middle of nowhere.
Well there isn’t much more to say and everything else will be on the video we’re making…so there is always that to look forward too….or not, as the case may be for the majority of people who stumble across this psychobabble.
Right check ya later alligators!!! (Oh god, that is so uncool)
Bye

03/02/08 (Day 1) Recording
Over the next week we are recording some new songs and we will be keeping a daily blog, and here it bloody well is:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
DAY1
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello to you all on god’s day of rest,
Over the next week we are recording some new songs and we will be keeping a daily blog, and here it bloody well is:
So I thought it would be a good idea to do some sort of daily blog, whilst we’re recording the new E.P. and only time will tell if it was a good idea or not!!!
The place that we are living and recording is that of Mr. Dickon Stone, (Promoter, DJ and Artist extraordinaire). It is a lovely house near Stratford –upon –Avon and it is a mile until you get to his nearest neighbour which means excessive noise into the wee hours accompanied by moody candle light without consequence. I say a mile from Dickons nearest neighbours, but we do have a lot of sheep in the field next to the house who may get disturbed. Yet this won’t be down to the banging of drums, but most definitely Ryan chasing them around the field like the country boy he is.
One of the major plus points of being here is the company of two dogs named Molly and Otto. Molly is a springer spaniel who is on heat as we speak; she is horned up a treatar!!! Otto is some sort of cross breed with a Rhodesian ridgeback. For those of you who don’t know what this means or don’t care to know, well Rhodesian ridgebacks were used in Zimbabwe to fend off Lions!!!!! I shit you not….LIONS!!! Otto is fucking massive and may as well be a horse and will therefore be my mode of transport for the next week. Oh and he’s Spanish, so we’re learning commands in Spanish. If the recording doesn’t go to plan we can always release a recording of “Learn Spanish with Otto”.
We arrived late Saturday afternoon and loaded our equipment in and furniture out of the front room. We were all a bit tired after the excesses of the night before, which included a lot of snakebite drinking and even more of Dickon Stone winning the chance to support Simian Mobile Disco as his DJ Duo “BOXFACE”. The night ended with eating cheese, drinking Port and watching JAWS and tucked up in bed at 1:30am whilst Ryan looked for foxes out of the bedroom window. It is already becoming the cliché rock n roll recording!!!!
Today has just been setting up the drum kit and mics and hitting drums in no particular rhythm and therefore soundchecking. So no proper recording as of yet, so todays blog is more of a prelude and will be setting the scene.
We’ll be incorporating the magic of motion picture to document our time here and the whole recording process. The arguments, the magic and the nakedness will all be captured; I fear the latter will take up the most of it!!!!
So we will be here for about 5-6 days, some dude called God created the universe in around that sort of timescale apparently so at least we haven‘t got much to live up too!!!
Any who, I’ve got to leave you and love you and hopefully by the time I put up the next days blog we would have recorded something half decent that will blow your bloody socks off…..it’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it!!!

06/01/07 12th JAN: TWO GIGS, ONE NIGHT, CAMDEN, BATH
On Saturday the 12th of Jan, we the goo are playing two shows in one night. One in Camden and one in Bath. The details are like this.
---------------------------------------
CAMDEN - THE CAMDEN UNDERWORLD (+14's)
£10 / £5 guest list (RSVP to be automatically added to the list).
Back to Camden, where we can always guarantee a good time and some sort of parking fine. Anyone over the age of 14 can come so bring your siblings. Its an early affair with doors at 5
We're playing with old friends AXEKID. You may know the singer AXE from channel4's MUSICOOL. We know them from playing together back in the day in a Bath club called......
---------------------------------------
BATH - MOLES (+18's)
£6 / £5 concessions.
One of our favorite places in the county to play. Anyone who's been to a bath show before will know to expect the unexpected. They put us on so late that everyone in the venue is uncontrollably drunk by the time we play and this is one of the many reasons why we love Moles. It'll be good to be back. Support TBA. Doors 9:30
---------------------------------------
So thats that. SATURDAY THE 12TH OF JANUARY! Don't forget it. See you then.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Love HALAGOOGOO
